Lance Cheslock

Executive Director
La Puente Home, Inc.

Lance is a graduate of Colorado College and spent three years in Haiti with Habitat for Humanity. He has been with La Puente since 1989. Through the Fellowship, he is deepening his understanding of rural homeless issues regionally and nationally by visiting leading programs around the country and documenting their successes, making connections with national policy makers and thought leaders, and creating a collection of teaching stories that can further understanding and dialogue.


Tom Downey

Executive Director
The Children’s Museum of Denver

Tom earned his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and his J.D. from Villanova School of Law. Following more than a decade of practicing law, he decided to pursue his passion in early childhood education and joined the Children’s Museum in 2005. He is using his Fellowship to gain a broader and deeper knowledge of the nonprofit sector with a particular focus on policy and best practices. He is participating in leadership and management training to further develop his administrative skills and assist him in prioritizing and executing opportunities to expand the physical and programmatic capacities of the Museum.


Lucille Johnson

Director of Health Initiatives
The Center for African-American Health

Lucille earned her B.S. and M.A. degrees from Regis University. Following her career as a manager and operations supervisor with US West, she joined the Center in 2001. As a Fellow, she is gaining a greater understanding of public policy and how policy changes translate to community change; evaluating models and best practices for effective community-based interventions; observing local, national and international leaders; and studying how leaders can stay resilient over the long term.


Barclay Jones

Vice President of Assets for Family Success
Mile High United Way

Barclay is a graduate of the University of Colorado and joined Mile High United Way in 2004. With his Fellowship, he is examining alternative management and leadership models that could help the nonprofit sector respond to increasing expectations and growing complexity by operating in new and creative ways. He also plans to explore organizational and collaborative structures that lead to more sustainable and effective outcomes.


Patty Ortiz

Executive Director
Museo de las Americas

Patty earned her Bachelors of Fine Art at the University of Texas at Austin and her Masters of Fine Arts at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She is using her Fellowship to study fundraising models and create one appropriate for the Museo; research the management styles of model leaders in business as well as the nonprofit sector; and develop mentorships with several directors/curators of museums in the U.S. and Latin America.
