Carl Clark, M.D.

CEO
Mental Health Center of Denver

Carl Clark became the CEO of the Mental Health Center of Denver in 2000. MHCD serves people with serious mental illness through comprehensive community-based programs and services. Carl earned his M.D. from the University of Oklahoma and completed his residency in Psychiatry at the University of Colorado. With his fellowship, he is learning to implement processes that will increase the effectiveness and impact of his organization while gaining a better understanding of trends affecting mental health services at the state, national and global levels. He plans to complete an executive education program, spend time with experts focused on healthcare policy issues, and study best practices from other mental health systems.


Tamara Door

Downtown Denver Partnership

Tamara Door was appointed President and CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership, Inc. in 2005. The Partnership engages a broad spectrum of stakeholders to make Downtown Denver the vibrant core of the Rocky Mountain region. Tami has an M.B.A. from Wayne State University and a B.S. from Western Michigan University. She began her career in banking and served as Executive Vice President of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce before coming to Denver. Through the Fellowship, she is learning how to leverage her leadership style, build relationships with premier leaders and learn from their experiences, strengthen her knowledge of strategic planning by participating in an executive education program, and publish a book that will inspire others to consider careers in the nonprofit sector.


Adam Lerner

Executive Director
The Laboratory of Art and Ideas at Belmar

Adam Lerner became Executive Director of The Lab at Belmar in 2004, after serving as Master Teacher of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Denver Art Museum. The Lab combines elements of a museum, think-tank and public education facility, and provides a place for the public to engage with artists and scholars for reflection, discourse, and experimentation around contemporary art and thought. Adam earned a Ph.D. from The John Hopkins University, a M.Phil. from Cambridge University, and a B.S. from Cornell University. He is using his fellowship to develop his executive and managerial skills, further relationships with influential cultural leaders, and document the ideas and concepts of The Lab.


Christy Whitney

President and CEO
Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado

Christy Whitney is the founding President and CEO of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado. Since 1993, the organization has provided comprehensive hospice and palliative care, and grief related services throughout Western Colorado. Christy earned her B.A. from Elmhurst College in Illinois and her M.S. from the University of Colorado. As a Livingston Fellow, she is further developing her leadership skills and management expertise. She will visit the United Kingdom to study best practices and spend time with mentors. She also plans to participate in executive leadership conferences and courses. As a culminating experience, she will complete a writing project that will synthesize management and leadership concepts for middle managers.


Jesse Wolff

President and CEO
The Kempe Foundation

Jesse Wolff serves as the President and CEO of The Kempe Foundation. The Foundation provides fundraising, awareness and advocacy efforts for the Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect. Jesse has an M.B.A. from The Garvin School of Global Management (Thunderbird) and a B.A. from Eckerd College in Florida. Following a 15-year career in finance, he served as CEO of Community Shares of Colorado before assuming his current position in 2007. With his fellowship, he is increasing his knowledge of sustainable leadership and management strategies in the nonprofit sector. He plans to complete an executive education program in nonprofit management, visit leading organizations and examine best practices, and explore ways to serve as a role model for others considering changing careers from the private to the nonprofit sector.
